Statement
![]() I paint with encaustic paint, layers of hot beeswax, pigment and resin- applied in a liquid state, and fused together with heat. The process is repeated over again, amidst layers of organic matter, collage elements and other stuff. The encaustic painting process is challenging and unpredictable. The alchemy of the process compels me more than any other medium I've worked with; taking hardened blocks of wax and melting them to the point of fluid paint- heating, painting, and forming it into my work. It is an additive process as well as a subtractive one, scraping and revealing hidden layers. It seems the perfect medium for my research into interior landscapes of reminiscences, laughter and possibilities. |
