Tyree was about 12 years old when he fell in love with the image of the American West. His friends teased him for his fascination with cowboys and Indians, horses and cattle. Living in Memphis Tennessee and being of African descent didn't deter Tyree from his mission to become a cowboy, or at least emulate the fashion. His early teen years found Tyree often wearing elaborate Western shirts with fancy piping and embroidery. He wore Wrangler jeans, boots, and a belt with a bronco on the buckle. While his cohort wore baggy urban fashions, Tyree stood out in his cowboy gear. When he was 19, he left Memphis for good and moved west, pursuing a majestic vision of sunsets and sagebrush. He found rewarding work in Tucson Arizona in a western clothing store and took horse riding lessons. These boots were one of many pairs of boots that Tyree wore.
